2023 CAU International Summer Program

Introduction

The CAU International Summer Program welcomes students from all around the world who want to learn about the Korean language and Korean culture while earning major course credits offered by CAU. Students will have the opportunity for cultural activities, diving right into Korean culture and making lasting friendships with fellow CAU students.

The on-site 18-day CAU summer school (Session 2, from 1-18 August 2023) is one of the shortlisted summer programmes eligible for HKSYU’s Credit-bearing Summer Abroad Scheme (GEC206).

Courses available

Session 1

Course CAU Credits Description
Major A 3 Korean language course (Basic/ Intermediate) or South Korea in the World
Major B 3 5 Special lectures along with cultural activities

Session 2

Course CAU Credits Description
Major A 3 Korean language course (3 levels: Basic/ Intermediate/ Advanced)
Major B 2 Special lectures along with cultural activities

 

Programme Dates

Session 1: 27 June – 21 July 2023 (4 weeks)

Session 2: 1 – 18 August 2023 (18 days)

 

Programme Fee  

USD 1,500 for Session 1 and USD 1,200 for Session 2

 

Accommodation

USD 350 for Session 1 and USD 250 for Session 2

 

Application Deadline (By nomination only)

Please submit your application to HKSYU’s International Unit by 2 May 2023 for Session 1, and by 31 May 2023 for Session 2.

 

Eligibility

Students currently enroll at HKSYU (Year 4 students are also welcome)

Be able to understand lectures in English

 

Submission of Application

Step 1: Please submit your application to HKSYU’s International Unit by 2 May 2023 for Session 1, and by 31 May 2023 for Session 2.

Step 2: International Unit will nominate the students for CAU’s further processing.

Step 3: CAU will be in touch with the nominees directly after receiving our nominations.

Education Bureau’s Scheme for Subsidy

Means-tested Subsidy

Those receiving means-tested student financial assistance from the Student Finance Office (SFO) or whose families are receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) are eligible to apply for the Scheme for Subsidy on Exchange for

  • Means-tested Subsidy on Exchange to “Belt and Road” Regions for the Post-Secondary Students (Means-tested SSEBR): With the Korea as the destination and 3 / 4 weeks in duration, the maximum level of subsidy for the Subsidy Scheme on this summer school programme is HK$9,000

The amount for an eligible student is calculated by the approved level of student finance (in terms of percentage of full grant) to the maximum level of subsidy for the Subsidy Scheme.

Each student will be eligible for assistance under the Means-tested SSEBR twice throughout their study in programme(s) at the same level of study in Hong Kong, irrespective of the amount of subsidy received.

Non-means-tested Subsidy

All full-time and local undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the Non-means-tested SSEBR. With Korea as the destination and 3 / 4 weeks in duration, the maximum level of subsidy for the Subsidy Scheme on this summer school programme is HK$2,700

However, each student will only be eligible to receive once throughout their study in programme(s) at the same level of study in Hong Kong.
