RUC International Summer School  Renmin University of China

Introduction

RUC International Summer School is a chance for you to broaden your views and touch the future while enjoying excellent education and superb service at Renmin University of China (RUC). You can choose from over 100 courses, and engage in “Culture Immersion Activities” such as tours of the Palace Museum, Summer Palace, and Great Wall, as well as Taichi and Chinese Calligraphy classes.

The on-site summer school is one of the shortlisted summer programmes eligible for HKSYU’s credit-bearing Summer Abroad Scheme (GEC206). Please note that credit transfer is NOT acceptable for summer programmes.

Registration Fee RMB 800
Tuition fee per course

(2 RUC credits)

Early bird: RMB 7,000 (apply and complete the online tuition payment by 31 March 2024)

Regular: RMB 7,500 (apply and pay in April and May)

Accommodation Double occupancy dorm room: RMB 50-100 per day

Single occupancy dorm room: RMB 120 per day

Submission of Application

  1. Check the programme details before you submit your application to Remin University of China.
  2. Fill in the online form of the International Unit for us to keep track of who has applied.
  3. The International Unit will assist you in preparing the official academic transcript, and brief you on issues related to summer programmes, but you are responsible for submitting your application to the programme organiser before the deadline, paying for the programme fee, arranging accommodation, securing a proper visa (if applicable), purchasing air tickets and insurance, etc.

Means-tested Subsidy

Students receiving means-tested student financial assistance from the Student Finance Office (SFO) or whose families are receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) are eligible to apply for the Subsidy Scheme for Exchange Activities –

  • Means-tested Subsidy on Exchange for Post-Secondary Students (SSE): With Mainland China as the destination and 19 days in duration, the maximum level of subsidy for the Subsidy Scheme for this summer school programme is HK$9,000. The amount for an eligible student is calculated by the approved level of student finance (in terms of percentage of full grant) to the maximum level of subsidy for the Subsidy Scheme.

Each student will only be eligible for assistance under the SSE ONCE throughout their study in programme(s) at the same level of study in Hong Kong, irrespective of the amount of subsidy received. If you are eligible to apply, please submit your Application Form.

Non-means-tested Subsidy

All full-time local or non-local undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the Subsidy Scheme for Exchange Activities –

  • Non-means-tested MES: With Mainland China as the destination and 19 days in duration, the maximum level of subsidy for the Subsidy Scheme on this summer school programme is HK$2,700.

Each student will only be eligible to receive the Non-means-tested MES ONCE throughout their study in programme(s) at the same level of study in Hong Kong. If you are eligible to apply, please submit your Application Form.
