Submission of Application

(a) Admission requirements

(b) English proficiency test scores are not required. However, students should be proficient in English and have a strong academic background.

(c) Please send a soft copy of valid English test result, e.g. IELTS, (not compulsory), your HKDSE result, and the package that you intend to study during the Vancouver Summer Program (VSP) to studyabroad@hksyu.edu (mark the subject line in the email as your HKSYU student number, your name and the name of summer programme)

(d) International Unit will screen through all the document(s) and information received before proceeding to the submission of formal application to The University of British Columbia. In addition, the International Unit will assist student to prepare offical academic transcript.

Subsidy

(a) Students receiving means-tested student financial assistance from Student Finance Office (SFO) or whose families are receiving Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) are eligible to apply for the Scheme for Subsidy on Exchange for Post-secondary Students (SSE) of the Education Bureau. With Canada as destination and four weeks in duration, the maximum level of subsidy for the Subsidy Scheme on this summer school programme is HK$15,000. The amount for an eligible student is calculated by the approved level of student finance (in terms of percentage of full grant) to the maximum level of subsidy for the Subsidy Scheme. For checking your eligibility, please contact the International Unit.

(b) Each student will only be eligible for assistance under the SSE ONCE throughout their study in programme(s) at the same level of study in Hong Kong, irrespective of the amount of subsidy received.
