10 July – 7 August 2016
Following the success of the study programme last year, Hong Kong Shue Yan University (SYU) and Herford College of the University of Oxford cooperated again for another study programme in 2016. A total of 34 SYU students participated in the English Language, Global Business and Social Issues at Hertford College of Oxford University programme over 10 – 24 July.
On the Hertford campus, the SYU students lived and studied together with Oxford students for the whole of the programme. Lectures were given by professors of the University of Oxford covering topics on economic, commercial, social and cultural developments in the UK. A completion certificate was awarded by the University of Oxford to each student at the end of the two-week programme.
Before they returned to Hong Kong, the SYU students spent another two weeks vising Denmark and Iceland, taking the opportunity to experience the culture of these Northern Europe countries.
“Such exchange study programmes with top-notch universities broaden our students’ scope, stimulate their critical thinking and help them establish a wider network. The programmes also help enhance students’ language ability. The experience will be useful to them in preparing themselves for employment or further studies,” said Dr. Lee Shu-kam, Associate Professor of the Department of Economics and Finance, who organised and led the study group.
